Attend The SOS Welcome Social on Thursday

Happy September! As the kids head back to school, we bid adieu to the busy days of summer. We will miss the cookouts, vacation, and even cleaning sand out of the car, but we breath a sigh of relief as we welcome back the habitual routines of fall. It is time to look forward to all the enjoyable and productive activities within our Navy community. The SOS Welcome Social, our kick-off event of the season, is this Thursday, September 6th at Quarters D, Naval Air Station North Island on Coronado. Come and mingle, enjoy light h'orderves and refreshments, and indulge in Sharon Kitchner's cupcakes. This year SOS is giving to the Ombudsman's Pantry, a charity that provides for sailors and their families. If you would like to help, please bring a non-perishable item to our Welcome Social. As a thank you for your donation, SOS will give you an extra ticket for a door prize for each item you donate.

As a member of SOS you not only get the privilige of attending fun social events, but there are also opportunities to get involved in our awesome surface community such as volunteering as a Homecoming photographer or participating in one of our event planning committees. If you would like to be involved, we will have sign-up sheets available at the Social.

Your new SOS Board has been busy collecting membership forms for the upcoming 2012-2013 year. If you did not get the chance to mail in the membership form, you can download it, fill it out, and drop it off at the Welcome Social. You can bring a $20 check or opt to pay using a credit card. We will publicize the web payment link soon. If you cannot attend Thursday's event, we encourage you to get your membership dues in now so that you will receive evites to our other September events. Don't forget that supply officers' spouses in your wardrooms are also invited! Our event is open to all officers' spouses who work within the surface community.
